SUNDAY SCHOOL WINTER CLASSES

January 8 starts the beginning of our Winter Sunday School Classes.

Donn Youndt will be leading a class and studying the book Don't Waste Your Life, by John Piper. The class will run approximately 10 weeks. Each class will begin with a 15 minute DVD teaching session, followed by discussion. We all know the answer to the familiar question "what is the chief end of man?" - to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. But John Piper says to ask the average person to sum up his or her ideal life, and you get the American dream: college, job, marriage, house, kids, comfortable income, cushy retirement. To pursue these things rather than cultivating a passion for Christ is "wasting your life." Come and find out how to not waste your life, and find a passion for Christ that you never knew before!!

There will be a Women's Sunday School class offering this winter. We will be studying the book of Hebrews using materials from Nancy Guthrie's book "Hoping for Something Better". You do not have to have the book as you will be supplied with a note-worthy copy of Hebrews and study questions, but you will find Nancy's thoughts helpful as you come to a better understanding of this wonderful New Testament book. Before the first class, you should read the entire book of Hebrews, at one sitting if possible. You should also do this frequently throughout the quarter.  The anonymous author of Hebrews is an excellent sermon writer, so having the big picture of the book always in mind will help you mine amazing treasures. Deb Felak will be leading the class, with the help of others in the group. This is the same material used in the weekly women's bible study this fall at RPC.

Jim Harris will be leading a class leading a class on a study of the major prophets: Isaiah,Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and just dip into Daniel possibly. This would be a survey of those books in the context of the history of Israel and redemptive history of man. We will pay particular attention to the symbolism used and look at the more troublesome parts.
